This is my first yelp review. I have tried various places in the Willow Grove area and this is by far the best. Most places are Chinese or Japanese first and anything else sucks. This place is amazing all around. If you want sushi, it's fantastic. If you want chinese food, great! I felt inclined to write a yelp review because China Garden Inn is really, really awesome. I love sashimi, but I'm not a fan of salmon. When I order their sashimi app, I ask for the salmon to be replaced. Has never once been an issue. I have never, never gotten a bad meal here. I have ordered various Chinese and Japanese items off of the menu and have never been disappointed. I cannot recommend this place enough!!!

One waiter there very rude and has limited English speaking skills and DOES NOT know the menu well at all. Short guy with glasses. Lady with the short hair at the counter never smiles, and is rude herself. However they have great sushi!

Great Chinese restaurant, close to home! The menu has both Chinese and Japanese items. Their sushi is fantastic, as are the meals. Large menu to choose from. Hostess, Owner and staff are very friendly, not pushy. One of our favorites is the Walnut Shrimp. Extra large shrimp with toasted walnuts, in a cream sauce - Wow! Gotta to try this place if you're in the area!

I have been going to China Garden since I worked in the area in the late 1990s and the food is as good as it was then. Whenever I go to the mall I have to get my fix of Shrimp Mei Fun with extra curry.

I love this place so very much...I've been coming here since 3rd grade and I'm in my 30s now. Food is always fresh...quick service, friendly staff, both their Japanese foods AND Chinese foods are excellent. Very generous portions...especially on sushi and sushi rolls! A+. This is really a gem of the Willow Grove area.

From the out side the place looks a little trashy but don't be fooled. I stayed safe and didn't eat the buffet so I can't say but I ordered the shrimp fried rice and pork lo mein and it was very good. Needless to say, I was pleasantly surprised! :-)

This such a beautiful place. We love to come here on quiet nights in the middle of the week. Wait staff supremely friendly. They have Japanese as well as Chinese food. This visit I ordered a Lychee martini to drink, and the Honey Walnut shrimp special. Amazing presentation. Such a beautiful plate. And delicious. I recommend it to anyone.

Just ate here for Christmas Eve dinner. It's a large place, and got very loud. However, I was a pleasantly surprised by the food, and tho it was slow at times, our server was attentive and remembered everything! Yum yum! Recommended and they had lots of regulars they knew by name, which is always a good sign. Drinks are super cheap and delicious!

This place is surprisingly great. Surprising only because I never think of Chinese/Japanese take-out to be in the category of great. I've had some sushi and it is fresh. I also have gotten a lot of the meals. Very fresh tasting, never tastes greasy or heavy. I've recommended this place to many friends/family and everyone always goes back for more! I have never dined in, only take-out. Fast take-out times.

I read lots of people's reviews. Anyone who gives this place a bad review is having a bad day or probably can't be satisfied at all. This is a terrific place. Food is great, prices are very reasonable and the people are very nice.

Lunchtime meal was very good and filling. My wife discovered the meaning of an empty fortune cookie - they bring you another cookie!

This is my go to spot for lunch during the work week. They're insanely quick and the lunch portions are priced excellently while being of ample size. The General Tso's chicken is phenomenal as well as any of the other chicken dishes which is all I eat from there only due to personal choice.

They really should just say "No Children" before you even walk in. When we were seated the host said something to another worker (which we thought grab a high chair) but no we waited a full 3-5 minutes before I finally got up and got one myself. The waiter (who totally sucked) came over asked if we were ready to order then promptly turned around and said I'll be back to take your order ...why come over at all? that was after we already waited a good 10 minutes. It took him another 6 to come and take our order. By this time we were unimpressed with the soap sud tea. We got our appetizer and soup but they looked funny and no plate for the baby so we had to try and find one ...awesome ... They never cleared the table, not once. When I asked him to clear the apps and soups he said to just push it to the side (seriously!) The waiter not one time came over to see how we were doing. we got up and told the manager we were unhappy and then the waiter finally showed interest in us but too late the food sucked and the service sucked. the only nice thing was the décor, too bad that doesn't make up for the other 2 things. I think this place should get a visit from kitchen nightmares. lets talk food: Egg roll - greasy Wonton soup - bland broth, wonton was way too thick and the meat component was way to salty Egg Drop Soup - the consistency was very slimy and again BLAND Chicken Chow Mein - Throughout the whole plate the taste of lettuce was prominent any other flavors ...not so much Shrimp with Mixed Vegetables - Finally something with flavor only the veggies were not in any way shape or form cooked. it was as if they took a bag of frozen veggies and just threw them into the sauce for a second or two Fried Rice - bland bland bland both my husband and I got really bad headaches and felt weird shortly after trying the food which is a sign of a crappy Chinese place using MSG in their food bc they cannot count on the chefs to put out tasty dishes on their own. So I recommend this place if you want bad diarrhea, a headache, to feel funny, and to be treated like dirt

Felt so gross after eating here. I got two types of sushi, the volcano and dynamite roll I think. Neither was spicy as the menu had claimed and one dish had some type of unidentifiable fish mush on top that was ice cold. After eating the roll itself, I started to think that I would likely be sick in a few hours. My friend kept telling me her steamed sea bass was ok, but she ate a quarter and then pushed it to the side. I felt embarrassed I brought her here. I was turned off completely to this place when I looked over and a guy in jeans and sweater who had been sitting at the sushi bar was suddenly behind the bar making sushi with the chef. Nope.

By far the worst Chinese food I have ever eaten. Ordered a combination platter: boneless spare ribs, egg drop soup, egg roll and pork fried rice The egg roll and soup were average. However, the boneless spare ribs were a cheap cut of meat and the fried rice was uneatable. Right to the trash it went. In addition to this, the staff was extremely rude. Yelled at me when I asked a question. The delivery took forever also, questioned whether or not my food was actually going to come. Never ordering from here again.

The China Garden has a huge menu and very fair prices. The sushi is average but priced accordingly so its worth trying. I really like their version of General Tso's because its very spicy. They have something for everyone and the portions are big.

Ordered delivery: general tso's combo (spicy with extra sauce, please), Philly roll, spicy tuna roll. My chicken was not only not spicy, it had no flavor of any kind. The fried rice was just as bland. It went right in the garbage. The sushi rolls fell apart, as did the egg roll, which was also tasteless. Total waste of $30.

This is my goto place when I want sushi. Highly recommend the Osaka roll. When I do choose to order off the Chinese menu, try the honey walnut shrimp. It's the best. Sophia at the bar always takes care of me and is willing to go the extra mile for our takeout or delivery orders and welcomes anytime I stay and eat in. I can honestly say there are plenty of Chinese restaurants that also make sushi in the area but this place is by far the best. I never had to wait longer than a few moments before being seated and service is fast. I know we have seen people waiting at the Bonefish next door on the way in and see the same people waiting to eat while we walked out full. Don't let the other negative reviews discourage you from trying this place. Yes, the dining room could use a makeover but the food is good. The fish in the fishtank will give you something to look at or sit at the sushi bar.

One of our favorite places in the neighborhood! Friendly staff and delicious food! The sushi is amazing especially the eagle roll!

When I have a hankering for cuisine of the Chinese persuasion, this is where I go. I find the food here to be very consistent. I only order take-out, and it is ready promptly. They are always accommodating to any special requests I may have (ie. no mushrooms, extra spicy, etc.) I'm not into the whole raw fish fad, so I can only speak for the Chinese side of the menu. I'll admit, there are a few things I have gotten that are just average. In particular the won ton soup, and the egg rolls. However, there are some things I just crave. The Chinese Pizza is perfect in my eyes. It's thin, crispy, and possesses just the right amount of chewiness. It comes with a ginger soy sauce which works perfectly with it. Another personal favorite is the Spicy Beef Szechuan Style. Love it. To the reviewer that hated on the General Tso Shrimp, pshh. You must've had a bad batch. I've ordered them on several occasions. They have always been crispy, and perfectly sauced. The shrimp are on the large side, as well. It is expensive, maybe around $13, but shrimp are generally expensive. Oh, it's not a combo platter, why would you expect "extras"? The women who work the front are friendly, trust me. I always engage people in conversation. They're my bitches, in a good way. China Garden Inn, you have done me right for many years. I shall defend you until my last breath.

China Garden Inn is my favorite local spot for Chinese take out. I will admit that I haven't eaten in -- although they do have a humorous sign outside, advertising tables available for those tired of waiting at Bonefish Grill. My favorites include the homestyle tofu - it's delightfully sauced, fried, triangles of tofu, and a few veggies including mushrooms, carrots, and peas. I usually pair it with the garlic broccoli to up the veggie factor. If we're feeling especially hungry for carbs, we'll add on the veggie lo mein. This is a real treat - deliciously unhealthy, but oh-so-good. It's smokey and just greasy enough.

We ordered delivery and it took over an hour, approx 1 hr 15 min, to get to us when we live probably a mile down the road (yes, maybe we shouldn't have been so lazy and gone to pick it up ourselves, but it was just one of those days...). We ordered 1 meal to split between the two of us so it wasn't like it was a huge order. We ordered from the Chinese side of the menu and all I can say is that today has not been pleasant. Both my husband and I have had to make several bathroom trips and not the liquid kind. I don't know what happened, but I will NOT be ordering from them again.

This place is ridiculously yummy - the chefs definitely know what they're doing in the back of the kitchen, I've had 4 types of sushi and the sweet and sour chicken here. Wow, absolutely amazing. The sweet and sour chicken isn't that gross chewy chicken you get at most chinese places, and the fried part of it isn't an oily crisp mess. Instead, it's a flavorful crispy texture. However, the part I have a problem with is the FRONT of the restaurant. It does not seem very clean, maybe try and brighten the place up and clean off everything so that everything looks sparkly and new. The biggest issue I have with this place is the one waiter. I've had him a couple of times... Now I don't know if he's just been there a while or what, but he needs some life into him. He wasn't good at answering questions and didn't even seem like he was fully present. Go to any modern American chain and you'll see waiters and waitresses who smile, are funny, accommodating and great at describing the food. Why wouldn't you, you are getting tipped based on your service after all. This is what this place needs to make it 10x better. Until then, I'll be trying out the new Sushi/Chinese places that have opened in Willow Grove, and hopefully I'll find one that has it all. Edit: Recently went back, probably wouldn't recommend the buffet, was pretty unappetizing.

Have never been disappointed by a meal here. The only thing I haven't tried is the sushi. We've been going here to eat for years. The staff is always friendly and the food is always good. The scallops and General Tsos chicken are favorites.

Used to go here just for their amazing egg rolls, as silly as that may sound. It's a good place. Good atmosphere for dates.

I have read other reviews here about China Garden Inn and All I can say is My fiance and I have been eating there for over seven years and never had a bad meal. I get sushi and she gets Chinese but we would both get a Crispy Spicy Tuna Roll because it's awesome....Good drinks at reasonable prices too...

Food is Outstanding! Service is great! Beautifully decorative! Very large fish tank in middle of restaurant, children find very amusing. All the waiters and waitresses are very friendly. Has a nice bar and makes fresh Sushi. Give them a try, you won't be disappointed.

Quality Chinese food, fresh ingredients (not overcooked). Friendly service the owners and wait staff are really nice, even when we make alterations of menu items . I have no complaints, we frequent whenever in the area.

Best Gen Tso/Seasame Chicken for miles. Closest second place would be Mings in Hatboro.

We went here because Bonefish had a line out the door and China Garden had a snazzy "Tired of waiting? Eat here" sign (or something to that nature). Plus Shane Victorino was a guest here so we figured we'd try it. Bad idea. I got general tso's shrimp and first of all it was expensive ($16 and didn't come with soup or salad) and secondly the shrimp was weird and had a paste-like consistency inside. It was so horrible. I didn't even finish my food or take it home.

After tasting every Egg Roll in the area, China Garden is the winner. Nice crispy shell, with a good amount of filling. (not an oil-filled crust pocket). The ladies at the door are always friendly too! Best tasting chinese in the neighborhood.

A decent place if you want to go there to eat. I urge you however not to take delivery from them. The last meal we had from China Garden, was delivery. It was a Sunday afternoon. They are well known for their Buffet. And I guess what we had delivered was left overs from the buffet. For example, I ordered my favorite Sweet and Sour Chicken. It is supposed to be crispy chicken. Well, the chicken was soggy and the breading like rubber. It was not even warm. How could they send out such garbage? The only explanation we could come up with, left overs. Stuff that was left over from lunch that they were unable to utilize. And my portion was not the only one that was awful. Just the one I remember. We will never eat from them again.

What is the ultimate remedy for a seasonal affect disordered Monday? Why takeout of course! I quickly scoured Yelp for a Chinese joint and found China Garden Inn. What enticed me was that Bob Saget visited. If the Full House Danny graced this place, then it must be good, right? My verdict: functional run of the mill Chinese takeout. It would have been a 3 star if the portions were bigger. Random furtive vegetables were placed underneath the Tso's chicken. Who the heck puts mixed vegetables in Tso chicken for fillers? The general is rolling around in his coffin. 1 pt docked for the sneaky sneaky. Decor: The exterior is a massive jade-green wall which makes for a conspicuous juxtaposition to the Bonefish Grille and Staples next door. Inside, it looks like China, replete with tiled cuniform-esk ceilings and a revolving showcase to peddle gaudy fake earrings. Health secretary certificate deems 120 to be max capacity. First thing to greet you is a small bar, doubling as the register. Food: Ordered General Tso, egg drop soup, egg roll, and Chinese pizza. I agree with Victoria G.; the Chinese pizza is the best thing on the menu. The dipping sauce was soy sauce, sugar, and vinegar. The rest of my order, however, was bleh. General Tso has to be crispy, unhealthy, and crunchy; not soggy and flaky. Fried rice was Uncle Ben's. If you're in the neighborhood and you really really want Chinese, then perhaps it maybe justifiable to feed here. Otherwise, you may just want to Lean-Cuisine the night.

No thanks! After reading the reviews here about this restaurant (and being new to the area) I figured why not. It sounds good, and it's real close. Well, that was a mistake. The food was awful. I didn't even finish my General Tso's chicken. And I'll eat most any foods, no matter how well they're cooked. (sometimes food is just fuel, and not fun). Plus it was kind of expensive too. It was a little over $20 for 2 combination meals...which didn't come with much. My old place would charge ~$9 for the Gen Tso combo that came with an egg roll and soup, not just the meal/rice. I wont be back.

Growing up across the street from China Garden Inn, I may be a little biased. But I love this place. Whenever I eat chinese food somewhere else, I wish it was China Garden Inn. Friendly, fast service, good prices and great food. They also added a japanese section in recent years, which is also very good.

everyone knows about china garden inn. this place is ridiculously good. hands down, the best thing on the menu is the chinese pizza. other places have called it a scallion pancake. this place has the best i've ever had, and the dipping sauce is like heaven. they have a lunch buffet on the weekends for less than $8! and i think if you mention their website you get 10% off your bill. next time you're shopping at the willow grove mall, skip the food court and check out this place for lunch! and be sure to check out the wall of local celebrities who have visited (bob saget! ooh lala)

I go there when I am in the mood for sushi, their Chinese is very good, but one of the benefits of ordering Chinese take out is the low price, however, their prices are very high for only slightly better quality. This is our birthday Chinese place because it is beautiful inside, has Japanese & Chinese and is more worth the price for an occasion than an weekday order.

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
